These are some photographs which I took in Ireland in 2013 and 2014. I decided to go to Ireland in 2013 because I was 60 and I’d never been there so it seemed a very good reason to do so.

I’ll probably get in trouble for saying this, but I decided not to stay in Dublin as I felt that it was an international city like London. Galway on the west coast seemed quite interesting and I found a nice hotel or rather a wonderful pub in the suburb of Salthill which called itself a hotel and where as I very quickly found out the Guinness tasted perfect. I had a look round Galway, but also visited Ennis, Athlone and Athenry. For the first time in my life I saw a Gaelic football match at Salthill.

The following year I decided that I wanted to go back to Ireland but went to the east coast instead and stayed in a lovely hotel in Waterford which had a nice bar attached which served wonderful food and a very good Beamish stout. Apart from looking round Waterford I also got out to Killkenny, Clonmel, Tramore and Youghal, which is pronounced Yawl.
Apart from learning things about Ireland that I didn’t know I had a wonderful time.
